Pain Free WordPress Publishing
Malika,
I can’t tell you how frustrated I am with wordpress. I found some errors in a post and decided to just copy and paste the corrected article instead of trying to get wordpress to take the corrections. Now, it won’t hold anything I tell it to do. I put a space between paragraphs and it takes it out.
It suddenly colored some of my post blue and it took an hour to get it back to black because I had to do it almost paragraph by paragraph at least 2 to 3 times each. I have taken the whole thing out twice and started over and inserted the pictures and nothing seems to work.
Why should I not be able to decide how I want my post to look? Why should I have to take two hours to get a post in and still not get it done? That is where I stand now.Who do I talk to about getting it to do what I want? I am really angry at the people at wordpress for making this so difficult.
At this time, the first part of the post is a lighter black, almost gray than the rest of it. The paragraphs are all run together, and this after 2 hours of working on it.
I have a 10 am call tomorrow. After that, I really want your help please.
I assume you are asleep now, hope so. I’m going to bed now… I am beginning to wonder if all of this is worth it if I have to go through this every time I put something new in as I have for the past 3 or 4 posts.
Easing the Frustration
First off let me confess that I have been there and felt that with wordpress and other form of software that wouldn’t play nice together.
I’ve had conversations with web business builders who even admit feelings of computer rage and wanting to toss in out the window or in the pool! But take heart, there’s hope.
This problem you are having with wordpress is due to incompatibility with the program you are creating your content in (MicroSoft Word) and the software you are posting in (wordpress).
MicroSoft word as plain as it may look create code for your font size and color and even spacing between paragraphs that confuses the code to do the same thing in wordpress. This is why you can’t seem to change anything once it gets into wordpress.
Pain Free WordPress Publishing
If you really insist on creating content in word (which I high discourage) follow these directions below:
1. Before you paste the content you cut from word click on the little html tab.
2. Paste the whole thing there then click the visual tab right next to it.
3.Do you styling, bolding, sub headline tweaking from there.
If that doesn’t work
I cant try it since I’ve gone as far as deleting it from my computer all together. So if that doesn’t work… paste your document into “NotePad”. This strips away the ‘invisible’ coding in the MSWord. You can then cut from “NotePad” and into WordPress pain free and fast.
If You Want The Easiest and Fastest Way
Skip word all together if you want ease and speed when it come to pasting and styling your content. Use NotePad or even google docs to create you content.
Because NotePad doesn’t create ‘invisible styling code’ like MSWord you can type freely then style later inside of wordpress.
Because google doc is already an online document it plays nice in wordpress.
Or you can just simply write what you have to say inside of wordpress and skip all the intermediate steps. Although you may not like typing inside your wordpress dashboard for a variety of reasons this is my guaranteed way to pain free wordpress posting.
Just hit the preview button a few times as you go along and at least once before you commit to hitting the publish button.
How to Fix it If You Are Sick And Tired Of re-Pasting…
If you’ve already posted what you want and the wordpress dashboard and you just don’t want to keep re-pasting you can take on the final suggestion which I would advice against unless you just want to learn it for kicks
, continue reading.
go back to your post so you can edit it. Click on the HTML tab below your title and remove ALL the coding you see there are aren’t your actual content.
Things like:
</div>
<div>
<p>
</p>
<font size=…>
Those are the things screwing around with your ability to edit inside of wordpress. The commands for things line spacing and creating new paragraphs, etc. are conflicting. Move the styling code… solve the problem.
Please let me know which of these work out for you and ask additional questions by leaving a comment below.
