Hello Tonya,
First I’d like to thank you for being a loyal subscriber! I’ve had several questions about how to decide IF and which of my products are best for generating lead for different businesses.
This is a fair question and I am grateful for the opportunity to explain further so you gain clarity for yourself. I’m making this a post on my site for you and others who have asked this question.
On the bottom of this post you’ll also find a short list of clients and the industries the represent who I’ve helped with my proprietary lead generation strategies, products/services.
But, first I’ll tell you a short story…
When I first started browsing around online in late 2007 for ways to get interested prospects contacting me, I already had a business I wanted those leads for.
I was a distributor of a telecom company for about 9 years then…. and I knew that if I didn’t find an easier way to create a steady supply of people to talk too, I’d soon burn out.
After reading 2 ebooks and following around their creators for a few months I came across a resource that would teach me how to create my first website (web business actually).
I was learning in a community along side business owners that spanned almost every niche, industry, business model and several dozen countries.
And we were all learning the same thing…
Online Lead Generation Simplified
The process of generating leads is the same regardless of what product or service you sell. It could be a Bentley or bagels, vitamins or phone service. The process is also the same regardless of how you get compensated for that sale (ie. Commissions, wages, MLM, bonuses, combination, etc.)
Would you believe me when I tell you that all successful web sites, web businesses and even offline business use the exact same psychology (in different degrees) to generate leads for their businesses?
Although people are different personality wise as human beings… many of our behaviors are very predictable. The buying process is one of those things. Below I explain both the customers side and the sellers side of it.
The Customer Sales Cycle goes like this:
1. Your potential customer has a need or a pain they want fixed.
2. Your potential prospect goes looking where they think the answer is. They ask friends, colleges, the internet for referrals.
3. They browse through their options and look to educate themselves more about exactly what they need in order to make the best choice… no, more like the right choice.
4. They select a qualified solutions provider that they feel is a good match and pay for the service or product.
Read that list again and tell me if I missed anything.
Whether we, as consumers are buying a car, a home, glasses, makeup or a lead generation program the buying process is pretty predictable.
That’s the good news because as business owners we now get to craft marketing messages and promotional materials and lead generation systems based on that predictable buying sequence.
The Sellers Sale Cycle goes like this:
1. You learn what pain or need your customer has that makes them go look for what you sell
2. You position yourself where they are looking and be an obvious option
3. You help them educate themselves about their problem and possible solutions
4. You qualify them to make sure is a good match and if so gladly accept payment.
Read that list again and tell me if your marketing for lead generation is missing any of this. Chances are you are completely missing or under utilizing #1 and #3.
Chances are you want to do better at executing #2 and #4 too so you are not working so hard for meager sales results.
Notice with the two lists how they connect at every step… like a dance.
Now, I understand those are over simplified lists above however, that is the foundation for all the other details you will add to the process.
The questions your prospective lead will ask, the key terms they type in the search engines, where they look for information… all comes from the perception they have of what their problem/pain and its possible solution.
Whether or not YOU get the attention of that lead and get the sale? Well, that depends on how well you match up your marketing with their thinking steps.
“My products are created based on, and marketed using what I learned doing this for myself and others over and over again.”
Interestingly enough this email was created becuase potential customer who has already experienced steps #1 and #2 of the Customer Sales Cycle were ready to move to step #3.
