How to Beat Market Saturation: It’s all About Your Add-on
It’s natural to be concerned about market saturation negatively affecting your ability to sell popular products, services and business opportunities online, then this article is for you.
One of the biggest insights I gained about making sales in competitive markets online came from a conversation that I had what I call into my hosting company with a problem with FTP (WTF!).
While on hold, I noticed that they had an option that allowed you to come a reseller of hosting service for a small monthly fee. Be the serial entrepreneur I am, I asked, Why anyone would want to do that.
"Why would anyone want to buy from me if they can just as well go directly to the parent company or other distributors and get it?"
What the agent said next me away!
The Power Of The "Add-on"
She said that it depends on my "add-on". A concept you may have heard referred to in more ambiguous terms like "giving value".
All a sudden so many questions that I had in my mind about how to promote and market popular products and services were answered.
You have to distinguish yourself from the other people were selling the same exact product.
By simply offering potential customers and prospects an add-on that was unique only to you, you will separate yourself from the rest of the crowd.
As with the hosting, I would give them a reason as to why they should get from me as opposed to anyone else including but not limited to the hosting company that actually provides the service.
What that means for you is this : Regardless of if you sell other people’s stuff (a network marketer, an affiliate marketer, direct sales) or you make your own products and services, you have hundreds or even hundreds of thousands of other people who are selling the same exact stuff as you…
You still have a chance to make more sales in your business.
If you are willing to take the time to develop your "add-on" (what you are willing to give your prospect in return for purchasing their solutions through you) you will make money even in an apparently saturated, over crowded market.
With the example of the hosting services, you’d find, create and offer an add-on that is complimentary to what you are selling. In this case it’s hosting so, some options are website creation and building, assistant with FTP & HTML, videos on how to create graphics, etc.
Now its your turn…
What would be an appropriate add-on for your current business? What add-on can you create for the products and services that you want to sell?
Here are some real ideas I’ve shared with my clients, students and partners in sales:
- If you’re selling makeup a great add-on is makeup application instructions in the form of videos or audio.
- If you’re selling puppies you may want to create a content as add-on on how to train it.
- If your selling lotions/potions then additional free products/samples may do the trick.
- Selling cars? How about a maintenance club?
Even if your product is made by hand or has unique features chances are you’re not the only person in the world that is selling it. So, even if you’re not direct sales or network marketing rep still very important for you to considered your add-on value that unique to you.
The fact is, your potential prospect can get comparable products, services and goods from just about anybody else in the world so what you need to have is your add-on that distinguishes you from the other representatives.
This is what is meant when you hear the Internet marketing trainers talk about "adding value". Winning sales and beating market saturation goes beyond who being the best or having the most ads.
Use Add-on Value to Make Money Today
So, what I’d like you to do today is look at the products and services that you have or the ones you are looking to sell and decide what you’re going to have as your add-on value. What are you willing to give (above the and beyond what you want them to buy) to your prospect to encourage them to buy through you as opposed to your competition?
Come up with at least one and start telling your list of prospective buyers about it… today!
To the top,
