Lead Generation Systems: Build, Buy, Which?
The Lead Generation Recipe
There’s been a lot of questions and about debate going on over which Lead Generation and Lead Capture System is the best. There has even been some talk about where or not a system should cost anything at all.
For the purposes of this article I’ll exclude the "free but not really" systems like Mentoring For Free but, I’ll cover an outline of ingredient of what makes a good lead generation system. That way you will know when you’re looking at a good one regardless of whether you take the time to buy tools to build it yourself, rent a plug and play system or even use free services to put one together.
The Crust: The Foundation
I’ll assume for a moment that you already know how to create a landing page or know where to get one made for you. If you look at the most successful MLM lead generation landing pages you’ll see a trend with the elements that make one great.
I’ll also assume that you already have offers (MLM business opportunity, Affiliate programs, ebooks, other free resources, conference call schedules etc.) you want to present over the course of either a pre-written series of emails, or you drop them in fresh.
A good landing page should brand you whether you created it from scratch or are using a customizable template. The front page should include these:
- Your story
- A picture and/or Video
- An Optin box
- A link to some of your other content
After your potential prospect opts in to your newsletter/autoresponder. The relationship building continues by email and/or "snail mail".
The Filling: Content is Queen
The first part of your lead capture system has to be key word/niche focused Content. Contrary to popular belief that you should just pick one form of media and then master it before you move on to others, I suggest starting with the media that you feel most comfortable with.
The point is to start where you can start as quickly and inexpensively as you can afford. For example, if you are better at speaking than writing and have an audio recorder on hand start there. (For a free resource on where you can record free podcasts see the bottom of this article.). Then you take that and translate it to all the other available forms of media. Transcribing it into one or more articles and a voice over of a video of the content.
Targeted Content = Targeted Traffic
Whether you choose to create your own original content for your lead generation system or use all the various resources to have it created for you the quality of the content is only as good as the targeted traffic it attracts and convert into leads for your business.
If your business or its services is about travel then all your content should be educating your potential prospect about how to start in and succeed with that industry using the same system and about their guide (YOU) and what you are committed to do for them as a part of your team.
This process of relationship building is called "pre-selling" and it is a very integral and often over looked part of the lead generation process as we tend to want our prospects to join A.S.A.P. Forgetting that your ASAP and someone else’s isn’t always synchronized.
The Icing: Power Of Integrated Marketing
If you plan on monetizing your growing list of warm prospects you have the opportunity to introduce other relevant products and offers they would use to enhance their learning experience and advance their business. You can offer recommendations, reviews, case studies ect. of products and services by demonstrating the power, easy, or speed of use.
This includes, and obviously is not limited to a business opportunity, a lead generation system, autoresponders, affiliate programs or other 1 time sale or residual payout products and services.
The Flag: Asking For The !@#$%^ Sale
Your lead generation content should have a call to action in every single time. Even if its "click here for more free information", "go here to read this article Malika wrote"
or "I wanted to share this cool video with you".
Train your list to be responsive and to get used to *clicking* on your links.
Notes Before You Dig In…
One thing what you will always need is more training on how to tweak it and optimize it so what ever you do always make sure you have trusted guides or mentors to help you.
This is the point where the all the lead generation systems come to a head. I’ve found that some ready-made systems only teach you how to sell more of their stuff and make it difficult to add additional products into your sales funnel. That will impact your profit per lead.
Also, with ready-made systems it’s easy to get branded as the "INSERT LEAD SYSTEM HERE" girl/guy. When you really just want to brand YOU as your brand.
Personally, I have both systems that I’ve bought and some I’ve created but they all do the same thing by following the recipe from above. And although I’ve come to like the control I have over branding myself the self-made systems over the ready-made one they all work like well oiled machines and I would have it any other way
Whatever you decide to do, whether it’s creating your own from scratch, or picking up one ready-made from the Home Based Business Tool Shop you can’t loose if it has all the elements.
Now I’d like to invite you to spy on the automated lead generation system I created from scratch that stuffs my inbox a steady stream of quality prospects. When you optin, let me know you can from the BN community and I’ll give you the same free guide I used to build it.
