When I was a religious Network Marketing leadership training attendee I always marveled at the wisdom from the upline leaders of the company. The personal growth and development we would be privileged to was some of my most memorable moments.
But Some Of It Was A Load Of ….
One phrase I would her frequently was, "You either have to change who you are or change what you want."
The call to action was to get outside your comfort zone and become the type of person who deserves the level of success you desire.
However, I think your problem as a business owner, a marketers was just the opposite.
The problem was you’re not encouraged to be who you really are. Instead you’re encouraged to become more like your upline. How to walk like them, talk like them, prospect like them and say the same stale jokes like them.
I was even given script to help me do the job right to, how about you?
Entire trainings would be dedicated to schooling us on how to carry ourselves in public like the people we so desperately want to emulate. And, because I was totally sold out and committed to becoming whatever and whomever I needed to be to earn 5-6 figures a month!
But What About YOU?
Have you ever thought for a moment about what you have to offer besides from rehashed, repackaged, promised-to-be-better but probably not products and services?
Is it that you have nothing of value to bring to your own business but your scanty, over pitched names lists?
I say you have more than you know to bring to the table. From your past experiences, failures, successes and expertise come a powerful force that you can tap into.
In you is a reservoir of magnetically attractive value that is not nurtured in the traditional business and marketing culture that preaches changing who you are. The secret is to become more of who you are .
Someone who has something important to say about something and have come to share a gift, big or small, with the world in your life time.
Your Close Encounters Show You Who You Really Are
If you take a few moments to meditate on your passions and who you are at the simplest core of yourself. you will see you are someone who is drawn to help people in a specific way.
Whats the favor hat is asked of you most often, (other than "Can I borrow some money?") ? Is it to write, draw, speak, think, sports news, mental health support, beauty, fashion advice?
You are already called upon by your closest friends and family to use your powers to help them on regular basis.
You Are A Celebrity Of Something
You ever wonder how casting directors choose the best actor or actress for a movie? It has to do with the chemistry the actor has with the essence of the character.
You either have it or you don’t. Period.
The one that usually gets the role is the one that is the most natural at expressing a certain persona that only the right person for the role can tap into.
You have that natural chemistry in the way you express yourself in the lives of people you interact with that. A persona that under lies the different roles you play:
- Parent
- Sibling
- Artist
- Child
- Friend
- Entrepreneur
- Chef
- Librarian
- C0-worker
- Business Partner
- Etc.
There is something about you that is the same in these roles. It’s what draws you to which roles you choose to play in the first place!
There is something you are the "go to person" among your family. There is deep meaning behind the value you hold to your current friends. You are their celebrity of something.
Which Roles Bring Out The Best In You?
Is it that you love to serve in a particular area or vocation? Do you like to be the life of the party, are you always called to fix the leaky sink, are you the designated confidant for your friends?
When you come to terms with this true character and embrace it within yourself will then realize your duty to share it with the world.
It is from this place of being that you will attract all of want by showing people just like you that it’s okay to be just how you are… just ask all of your adoring fans of your talent even if right now the audience is no bigger that your sofa.
Burn The Scripts, Stop The Brainwashing!
So, quit the scripts and the mindless regurgitation of prospecting pick-up lines. Quit inappropriately quoting millionaires you’ve never met. Trade your personal growth and development book for a book on basic human psychology.
The way you talk (and the way you speak) is good enough for those who matter and tell the ones who mind where to go because being you is what is in and will never be out of style!
While your at it forget about the redundant, time consuming weekly meetings and the costly whirlwind weekends of "Super Xdays" and National Conventions.
What You Really Need To Know
What you really need is take time to decide what gifts/knowledge/expertise you already have that are mutually beneficial to you and your potential audience.
Then you’ll need a systematic way of offering your gifts to the world and a few good guides to help you to maximize you efforts so you can make money and create the life of your conscious choosing.
That’s right, I said conscious choosing because most of us who aren’t already completely consumed by expressing your knowledge in exchange for profit live a haphazard life of reactive, unconscious happenstance.
