The Agony of a Fence Sitting Prospect

Fence sitter or B.S’er? I’ll let you be the judge.
I’ve known B. for about a year now when we met he confided in me that he’d only made 1 sale or a PLR (private label rights: someone else writes it, you sell it as your own) product. Since then, she’s had several failed attempts to sell other affiliate products using primarily PPC (pay per click).
He has also recently shared that his wife’s hours had been cut at work and he felt like the pressure is on. But yet the phone hasn’t rung with him on the other end (not like I’m holding my breath) and may never.
This is officially my last ditch attempt to help him get out of his own way…
If you are a team trainer, coach or consultant in any field this conversation assures you are not along in your struggle to help your clients and team members to get off the fence and just decide either way!
I’ll let you as the reader make up your mind of what you think of the text chat below.

B: Hey Malika
Just a quick Hi
me: Good morning B. You need to quit talking to me until you are ready to get off the fence either way. Either stop pursuing your dreams/ easing your money worries or stop insulting them with your half-hearted attempts. You KNOW I want to help you… I like you and believe in you… but until you are ready to ask me to dance then we are just ideally chit chatting… which I don’t desire.
B: Ok – will get off the fence – will call you when ready
me: Don’t forget, quitting IS an option regardless of what anyone says. You don’t have to do this ‘entrepreneur” thing. It’s NOT for everyone you know. You need to know that for yourself.
Off the fence don’t mean calling me… it could just mean calling “quit”!
B: I am not going to quit — I am going to SUCCEED! ![]()
With or With out help
me: None have succeeded alone at anything gr8 B. Not Cesar, Hitler, Jesus or Obama… and neither will you.
B: Well I am still willing to work with you — just have not finished 1st assignment yet
I won’t bother you until I have done that
me: LOLOL… you haven’t even started on the first assignment yet!
What are you passionate about B?
Have you not thought about it in that long?
Piano, painting, baking, singing?
Love making, marriage counseling, boy scouts?
B: I have thought about it – just can not decide one the top strengths. Story of my life
me: You know this its doesn’t take days or weeks.
what are they?
B: Passionate about computers, scouts, outdoors, green living
me: Are those your top 3?
B: passions ? yes
me: Like: www.UpDateXP.com?
when you say computers that is..
this is his personal site: http://www.marcliron.com/
now if you have that level of passion for ANY of those above topics, half your walk to getting started is done.
B: Yes – Helping others w/ computers, those are good sites
me: He is a colleague of mine…. you know computers at length like that?
Or are you looking at having to take classes?
B: I know computers like that – have been developing software fro 20 yrs
me: REALLY?
B: yeah
me: And we just get to this part?! wow!
how about the scouts and green living?
B: I thought that I told you that
I did the online reservations software for places like the Bellagio
me: yes… u have but you have never tough of it as a leverage point for more income?
As a business I mean
not just something you do as an employee.
Can you teach software writing?
making wp-plug ins and such… is that in line with your expertise?
B: Yeah — I have done a couple of wp-plugins for clients
me: Tell about you expertise in being a scout (leader)… are you a troop leader?
B: yeah – was the cub-master for 6 years. moving on to boy scouts now
6 minutes
me: Do you think that there are other dads out there that may want to know how to be better cub masters and/or scout leaders who are willing to pay (even a small fee) to learn?
B: No – there are a zillion free resource.
me: I’ve seen strange profitable websites do membership site even for choir leader.. and youth ministers.
B: I had started to write a book on the Pinewood Derby .. that may be a money maker
me: yes… how ever those resources may be incomplete and you can still monetize YOUR free resources with banners ads and affiliate programs, ebooks etc. Don’t worry about that. We just need a niche where ppl are spending money.
Yes, the Derby book may make $, especially if its tied into a larger site with related topics.
B: exactly — I was talking to a writer last year in helping me do it .. but I never followed thru
me: lololol
follow through
sounds like that has been haunting you…
B: Absolutely! my #1 issue
or failure!
that and Procrastination
me: what motivates you to do the things you do now?
BTW I couldn’t help but do a little research
and there is plenty of opportunity in software and plugin writing and creating
B: what did you find?
me: AI find that there are people in the world who need your expertise in that area to help them… I can tell because I have a tool that shows me supply vs. demand and more for specific key terms searched online.
Now that you have so swiftly come up with a few initial ideas we can research them one at a time in a strategy session to match what you love with what ppl are willing to pay for.
B: Ok
20 minutes
me: When you are ready for your official research session go here http://www.savvybusinessmom.com/brainstorming-session It includes a recorded screen session which you can watch live and download. You will have a clear idea of which one(s) your best opportunity to pursue first and which to avoid completely. You ready?
B: I might be ready — but will have to have to do this at home. Still at the office now – keep getting interrupted.
Thanks Malika!

My question is, what WILL it take for B to be ready? But more importantly if you are a fence sitter yourself, when will YOU be ready to take a plunge off the fence?
And don’t forget, quitting IS an option… and a perfectly good one if you’re not made out for entrepreneurship like 80+% of our planet.
Here’s to decisiveness,
Malika Duke
