How To Find Leads and What To Say To Them
Warning: If you are looking for some magic potion that will hypnotize everyone you merely glance at to chase you down and beg to buy from you then this article is not for you. But, If you are looking for a way to create mutually beneficial and profitable long term relationships with real people then read on.
How to Find Leads and What To Say to Them
When I read this question I got the image of standing in the middle of a lake with plenty of fish with out a rod, line, hook or bate. As, a beginner this is how you tend to feel when you first get online.
Then you keep hearing about these folks who have "cracked the code" but you can’t figure out how they are doing it. Where do you find hot leads and what do you say to them? In others words, how do you catch the fish right?
Now, personally I hate fishing because I’ve never had the patience to sit perfectly still for so long just waiting and waiting… and waiting. I’m the type of get up and move, go, do type of person.
That mentality hasn’t kept me away from fishing and it didn’t served me well in getting leads either. I didn’t just want to put up a website or an article and just wait and wait… and wait for leads. So I was excited to find ways to stimulate some action. That’s what I will share with you today.
Gotta Have the Right bait to Catch The Right Fish
The way that you find leads is by finding first what will attract them to you . Why would someone want to get to know you? What could the gain from a relationship with you? A cool place to vacation? The latest on Oprah? The bast places to eat stuffed mushrooms? How about how to sell 10 boxes of Vitalizer per week?
You’ve got to decide what you want to connect with your prospects about and its got to be for more than just your business opportunity.
Besides the fact that you’d be violating the P&P’s, it just sounds ridiculous to think that every rep within the company should be running around only looking for other that were already specifically interested in becoming a rep or customer of your company. That’s whats gotten us the stinky reputation Network Marketing has developed over the years.
You’ve got to go the route you would if you were meeting someone without an agenda except to discover what you may have in common . Be someone who want to make sure your prospect is comfortable talking with you and being around you. Isn’t that what makes for the best team anyway? You’ve have to craft your lead-finding funnel like your websites and content was just there minding it’s own business on the Internet and because they were actively seeking the content you are talking about…. they just *stumbled* upon your site.
Isn’t that how fish are caught?
Just Go Running Into the Water Behind The Fish, Why Don’t You?
You know what happens when you do that, right? That’s right, the fish go scattering. Be careful not to do that online either. That’s the same thing that happens when you go online to social community with your slick little unoriginal pickup lines about your "free ebook", your "ground floor opportunity", or your claim to have found "The only MLM with a truly unique product" or "a killer comp plan".
You not only ruin your chances by making an awful first impression, but you mess things up for the others in the group too, you fellow fishermen. NO ONE CARES about that stuff any unless…
They Already Trust What You Have To Say
You’ve got to prove yourself credible if you want to find lead quality leads that will buy from you. You accomplish this easy when your talking about stuff you already know and find pleasure talking about. For example, if you’re an experienced salt water fisherman. You would start discussions (throwing out your bait) about best practices on picking the best bait, create a check list of the tools you need to get the job done. You’d share stories about the biggest fish that got away and all of a sudden you’ve got people joining in on the conversation.
They found your "bait" attractive, they could tell you know what your talking about and are passionate… very alluring bait. Soon they start asking you for tips and feed back about their techniques and before you know it you’re manufacturing your own line of fishing gear!
Whats The Fish Gotta Do With Finding Leads For Your Business?
I hope you see the big picture here. Hopefully my analogy isn’t to bad one since I don’t like to fish… at least not for fish
. But I have learned from listening to how my big brother talks about and consumes every piece of information about fishing (did you know there’s even a fantasy fishing tournament) that it’s very much the same with finding leads.
So, whats your bait?
