Getting Started with Attraction Marketing: Let There Be Light!

26 March 2009

With the barrage of training that is available about how to leverage the Internet to attract leads and prospects,  it is overwhelming! Even with all of my intelligence, I struggled with what to do first…

After having practically stumbled upon a solution that was almost too good to be true, I gained complete clarity. I’d like to summarize that clarity to you today.

Bare in mind, since learning a few key insights,  I’ve been able to save thousands of dollar$ and hundreds of hours chasing the attraction marketing holy grail. Consequently, it’s made generating leads, cash, and repeat happy clients a simple formulaic process .

So, what I’m about to explain is worth paying attention too.

From Sheer Brokenness Came Creativity

I didn’t have money to gamble with, when I started to build my online lead generation campaign. I needed to make the most of every dollar invested in learning and implementing what I needed to succeed.

I had already invested almost $200 between Dani Johnson and another fantastic offline attraction marketing coach, Michael Oliver , before I realized, "Hey they have websites…. so should I!"

But, where do I get one (on my budge)t that can compete on the wild wild web?

Then, while I was researching another 7 figure online income earner,  I found it! The answer! Everything a broke online marketing newbie like me would need in a neat little, easy on the pocket package…

… Only to discover there are  things you need to know and do before you even start thinking about how to build your website and sales funnel.

I was forced to think of myself as a solutions provider,  which meant I had to know know what kinds of problems I’d be providing solutions for.  Duh, right?

Who are You Building Your Site For?

I had to take a step back from what products I was intending to sell and consider who I was going to be selling to. Then I let them determine what I was going to sell and how I was going to sell it.

That’s how these big companies who run television commercials do it!

Have you ever noticed how many kid-focused commercials are on cartoon channels and how every other commercial on the Oxygen network is about Pantene ProV and Slim Fast?

Those companies know who they are selling to, and how to package and present it.

On what national television network would you sell your products and services on?  During what shows?  What time of day?

Don’t Be Afraid To Narrow It

Have you noticed that Superman rarely left Metropolis?   And Batman has Gotham City on lock.  All of the  other towns better get their own superhero.

Do you have a travel business that does air travel, cruise and hotel deals? Pick one and focus all your attention on studying the buying habits of the people who are already spending money in this kind on travel.

As a matter of fact,  for travel,  you could narrow it down to focusing on the buying habits of people in just one city,  and still make a decent 6 figure yearly income for yourself.

You Are Probably Passion Polyamorous

Feel like you’re  a Jack or Jane of all trades? In love with too many interests to narrow it to just one? Good! With market research, you’ll see that not all of your skills and interests are equally marketable , nor profitable. This will help you narrow your niche.

Also, don’t be afraid to expand into something that you’ve always wanted to do. (Take a hint from "Survivor Man".  What the heck is the point of that show anyway?).   Surely, if you become that celebrity cruise critic you’ve always wanted to be,  you can attract a few website visitors to watch you have fun and spill the beans on the deals, right?

Choosing Your Angle

You’ve got to come from a place of integrity. Decide who you can best serve based on what your natural strengths are. Consider what you are already  known for among your friends, family, and colleagues.  What would you like to be known for?  For what areas of expertise do your friends, family, and colleagues consider you the "go-to" guy or girl?

Become all of that person and hone your communication skills through oral, written, or video media.

A very good friend and business partner of mine managed to take his problem of finding information on buying an AirCard for his laptop, and turned it into a popular site called www.mobile-broadband-reviews.com .

He was already the "go-to-guy" for tech-related things.   When  he was unable to find any decent information on purchasing AirCards easily, he discovered an under-served market that was obviously spending money.

Now, he has a" How to Buy an AirCard" 5-day course.  He is also writing a buyers’ guide,  and  conducting a survey of  his audience on what other related products and services they want to buy .

If he could turn a dry subject like broadband technology into a sexy subject, surely you can choose a sexy angle on a product that your target audience wants.

Discover Your Super Mutant Power

Even if you can’t run faster that a speeding train or catch bullets between your teeth, that doesn’t mean that your natural skills and innate passions can’t help save the world.

You have knowledge, interests, and skills that you have been suppressing.  And you have other abilities that you use, but for which you are being under- compensated.

That same knowledge, interest, skill, and ability,  are what you need to tap into now. This is  the stuff that can fill your website pages, article banks, and autoresponders.

So, before you choose a domain name, buy hosting, choose products to sell, or places to advertise… know your super power and who and you can rescue with it.
