How to Get Online Leads Who Buy Lots Of [Insert Your Products/Service Here]
Many Internet marketing newbies and those looking to generate online leads are confused about those very first steps to success. Unfortunately they have missed the big, red, flashing "start here" sign.
Does that sound like you or someone you know? Unfortunately, there are plenty of flashing signs, but they don’t stand out because to newbies, Internet marketing and the wild wild web look like Las Vegas!
So here’s what helped get me out of the "deer-in-headlights" syndrome so common to online marketing beginners.
Today, I answer the #1 Internet marketing newbie question: So, How Do I Get Them In The Door To Start Building This "Relationship"?
This is such a great question! And I am excited to share the answer with you. I hope you find it useful and share it with others who want to know the answer, too.
You Gotta Flex Your Muscles
You ‘get them in the door’ by "peacocking" your knowledge of your niche, and your passion for helping people solve a specific problem. "Peacock" everywhere your target market is looking for what you have to offer .
This is called adding value. Add value for whatever your prospect is looking for from you ( as opposed to your competitor) based on what is unique to YOU .
So, if your selling {insert YOUR products/service here}. You would produce educational content on the questions you know your target market will need answered before buying {insert YOUR products/service here} and information about what qualifies you as an expert.
Show yourself as the "go-to-gal" for all things pertaining to {insert products/service here} by creating what Charles Heflin calls 3E content (Content that is Entertaining , Educational and/or Engaging to your target market).
If you have personally helped others or have experienced a true transformation with your products/services, well… Prove it!
Provide testimonials as proof of the value of doing business with an expert like you, and be active in your community. This differentiates you from being just another advertiser or blatant self promoter.
If Your Only A "Scrub"…
If you see yourself as only a beginner in your new business venture and you haven’t built up your knowledge muscle yet, you’ve got two options, in my opinion.
If you’ve got guts, you’ll invite your audience to watch and learn with you. Ask them what they want to learn and go from there.
If you’re not a guru, don’t try to be the guru! Be the friend that cared enough to be an accountability partner.
Employ the second option by finding a way to tie your new business venture in with a prior accomplishment of yours.
For example: Your experience as an Olympic gymnastic coach could help you develop an eye for the natural traits of a champion swimmer. Or if you have experienced failure in other business ventures and you’ve finally crack the code on why those ventures never worked, you can share why your current business will be successful.
Content can be created and share in the form of audio, video, written text in blogs, articles, press releases, live presentation, post cards, websites, physical and electronic newsletters, etc.
This will provide your target audience, who want to buy or learn more about you and or their {insert YOUR products/service here} options for finding "strategically and conveniently placed" content. This also gives your audience an an easy way to contact you for more info, or to buy product or service.
Don’t Insult Them
If you assume that your pitch is the first your online leads have ever heard and is somehow unique you’re insulting your prospective customer’s intelligence.
Remember, your prospective leads are probably online just as much as you, if not more! People know what’s real (or learn quickly) even through the *rumored* mechanical and impersonal Internet.
So don’t bother to pitch. Instead of "bull-horning" about your latest sales, give-a-ways, or one-of-a-kind biz op, attract leads by the sharing your knowledge and passion for solving their problems.
You’ve got to work hard to give people a good reason to want to get to know you, like you, and eventually trust your recommendations about {Insert YOUR products/services here}.
The problem you have now is that you think you can just hide behind products or companies that so-call "sell-themselves" because of their name, uniqueness, longevity, and other worthless claims.
Somehow you got the idea that marketing was about just "getting your name out there" and selling was about how loud you shout… and you suck at it.
Education Sells
Marketing actually occurs through a simple, natural process called "sell-ucation" (selling through education), not by giving chase, over-promoting or hype. Let educating your prospective customers become your sole focus and you will get more online leads taking you up on your offers.
I suggest you "stalk" your target audience for a while and get to know what their common questions and problems are. Find out how they research and how they buy {Insert YOUR product/service here}. Uncover common "yes-blockers" (and the roots thereof) so that you can master addressing those as well.
Find answers. Take notes. Start sharing your knowledge and discoveries with wild abandon!
Blessing abound,
.
