A Story Of Being Broke But Not Broken
Broke, busted and disgusted networker fires her hot shot upline, ditches the home parties, weekly meetings and chasing "no-shows" in search of a professional way to prospect customers and sales reps for her business
Realizing she has a responsibility to her downline, both current and future, she burns the midnight oil feverishly scouring the Internet for solid, credible answers.
She stumbles upon the simple secrets to how the top dogs in the network marketing industry build mammoth organizations – secrets that the well- meaning co-founders of her company were able to explain, even after 9 and half years.
But Now What?
Being newly "orphaned" due to using techniques that were publicly discredited by her upline, she knew she had to find a mentor and a mastermind… but who?
Everyone was a stranger. How would she know who to trust?
As usual, she went with her gut and gobbled up as much of the free tools and education she could find, just to get a feel for what was out there in the marketplace.
After getting to know who the thought leaders were, she selectively purchased a few products and private training from the best she could afford.
A Piece Here… A Piece There…
Bit by bit, she learns, implements, learns more, implements more, wash rinse, repeat. She shares what she learns with what remained of her team, who were by then, pummeled by doubt and attrition. The team implemented the training and breathed life back into their businesses, as well.
They make a pact to conquer this beast called financial freedom, together. They share resources and information and celebrate even the smallest accomplishments. They are primarily guided by instinct and the deep-seated need do something to finally works…
Her First Sale In Less Than 60 Days
The fire was fueled! Who cares if it was just $20? Ha! it was how the $20 was earned that made the biggest impact. Totally passive, it was the most seamless and painless sale she had ever made up to that point. Much easier than her experience with a so-called "home based biz" which mostly kept her OUT of the house and way from her young children.
Shortly after that first sale, more sales started to pop like hot kernels in the microwave. One then another, seemingly effortless since the effort would reproduced over and over, without further interference.
… A concept and business model she thought she understood that promised her success, which she invested in with money borrowed from her mother 9 and a half years prior…
… A goal she thought she was working towards with all that expensive ass training she drove, flew and bussed her way across the nation to receive…
…And all a long the answer was sitting on her desk playing mine sweep!
And to think the answer came from websites that didn’t exist just weeks prior. Some of them never even had social networking profiles before this point.
Was it Just A Fluke?
She just had to be sure. She also wanted to know who else knew about this stuff and why she never realized that the Internet was the only truly leveraged way to build an audience, sooner!
So, she attends just one more International training. Bad move…
That weekend put the nail in the proverbial coffin of every single dirty, "old-schooled" high pressure, mind game recruiting technique. She couldn’t even sit through the once enjoyable executive leadership coaching session.
She couldn’t stomach the sheer and utter cluelessness and hopelessness that was in that room. It was physically and emotionally painful to see so many highly intelligent, big-hearted, and enthusiastic people being lead to slaughter.
They would fail without learning how to attract business prospects and leads. They would quit due to burnout, or get kicked out of the company for using underhanded tactics to try to succeed with a broken system.
They would burnout from constantly patching the holes that attrition causes when a team member leaves. Or their recruiting would soon come to a screeching halt as prospects would no longer accept cashing in family and engaging strangers in public places as a solid business marketing plan.
She fought back the tears and bolted out of the room.
But it Didn’t Stop There
Can you imagine, going from having belly butterflies while pretending to care what your prospect says, all the while waiting for the right moment to "pique their interest", to having completely rejection-free sales? In essence, selling… with out selling?!!
She added more products to the line-up, networked with others , and began to attract attention from people whose courses and classes that she once couldn’t afford. She even started helping others to do the same thing brought her success, and became a professional (read: Paid) consultant.<
Currently she has grown an online following and has attracted the attention of a national PR and marketing firm who is negotiating a possible endorsement deal on behalf of their well known client…but lets keep that just between us
.
So What Made The Difference?
Are you ready? I’m about to unleash The Big Fat Secret that everyone and there grandmother wants to sell you about succeeding in business online.
You have got to forget about your company, products and industry. I repeat you have got to forget about your products, industry, and company .
While your at it, forget about the fact that you are financially strapped and all the recession talk you’ve been buying into lately, and bare with me another moment.
Suspend your own mess just long enough to think about how you can solve a problem for someone else…. Any problem will do, just be honest with yourself.
You’ve Gotta Become a Hero
What problems can you solve now, based on your past experience, expertise and passion?
Once you have that firmly in mind think about all the action steps, products, and services that are necessary to effectively solve that problem.
Now before you forget what it is write it down…. Go ahead. I’ll wait….(whistling)
If you take longer than 1 min. you’re making this too hard. (whistling).
What you now hold in your hands ( if you were being honest) is the beginning of of a fast and furious ride to making your first of as many dollars as you can demand from the wallets of people who are looking for your expertise.
